Grant spotlight + our inspiration
Since 1999, Sappi’s Ideas that Matter program has awarded over $10 million worldwide in grants to designers around the globe who are performing pro bono work for a nonprofit organization.
In September 2010, Buoy inc was awarded a Sappi Ideas that Matter grant for The Ucal McKenzie Breakaway Foundation. Suzanne started The Breakaway Foundation to honor her late husband Ucal, who she lost to sudden cardiac arrest in May 2009 while playing the game he loved, soccer. Buoy inc was one of only 27 recipients in North America for its concepts to help raise heart health awareness and crisis management.
